About Hisses to Purrs
Hisses to Purrs was started in 2021 by a woman and her mother who, through their love of cats, became involved in various cat rescues in 2019. After a while, they noticed a gap in cat rescue in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. While many rescues combine rescuing street cats with surrendered or abandoned cats and kittens, none (that they could tell) solely focused on street cats. With ever-increasing kittens born on the street each year, Hisses to Purrs was born to do its little part to combat the growing population of street cats in the southern area. Instead of following in most other rescues' footsteps, Hisses to Purrs strictly focuses on street cats. We do not rehome owned cats, take on surrendered cats, or unwanted litters of kittens. While we are only taking kittens and their mothers at this stage, we hope to take adult and junior cats in the future as we sign on more foster carers.
All kittens on this page can be met at their foster carers' homes. Or at PETstock Melrose Park
Please fill out the application form provided in the ads if you would like to meet one of our kittens.

Hi, my name is Missy! I am the mum of Amy, Donna, Rose, Doctor, and Clara. I will be able to go home on the 13th of January. I really would love to find a home of my own now that I'll never have to look after kittens again!
I'm a purry girl who loves a head rub and a good booty scritch! Since most of my kids have found their furever homes, I've found time to relax a bit and have found that I love playing with mice toys!
I'll greet my foster carer at the door when she comes in and will walk around with my tail in the air to show how happy I am. I love cat towers and spending the day watching the world go by out the window.
My dream home is one where I can get all the attention to myself. A lap or lounge to lay on would be nice. I think some toys, a cat tower, and some nice comfy beds would be great too! I'm not sure if I like a brush, but if my new owner could find out that would be purrfect.
Missy has been:
- Untried with cats outside of her family whilst in care, however previously lived with others.
- Tried with children 10-years-old and was fine with them
- Untried with dogs
***To be kept strictly indoors only or with access to a secure enclosure for her own safety and wellbeing***
Missy is approximately 1.5 years old (DOB: 1/8/21) and her adoption fee of $150 includes:
- Desexing
- 1st vaccination
- Microchipping
- Parasite treatment up until the date of adoption
- Litter training
- Socialisation
- An adoption pack with some of her current food, a carrier blanket, a set of toys, and other goodies to get her started.
Missy is available to meet at PETstock Melrose Park
If you're interested in meeting her, please ask the friendly staff in-store at PETstock Melrose Park, 1089 South Rd, Melrose Park

Hi my name's Wednesday, I'm Enid and Bianca's sister and also came from Christies Beach after almost being given away on gumtree.
Like my namesake, I'm a bit of an independent girl. I like laps and people and am very purry, I'm just not as in your face as Enid and Bianca. I'm quite happy sleeping on the cat tower or playing with toys throughout the day. When I'm tired, I'll come up for a pat and sit on laps for a snuggle.
My dream home is one that has plenty of toys, cat towers, cardboard scratchers, and a window to lie in front of to catch some sun. I'd be fine with a kitty friend but would do well on my own as well.
Wednesday has been:
- Tried with adult cats and kittens and is great with them
- Untried with dogs (however, is young enough that she should be fine given proper introductions)
- Untried with children (however, met plenty at adoption day and was fine with them)
***To be kept strictly indoors only or with access to a secure, netted enclosure***
Wednesday is 4 months old (DOB: 30/9/22) and her adoption fee of $200 includes:
- Desexing
- 1st Vaccination
- Microchipping
- Parasite treatment up until the date of adoption
- Litter training
- Socialisation
- An adoption pack with some of her current food, a carrier blanket, a set of toys, and other goodies to get her started.
Wednesday is available to meet at her foster carer's home in Morphett Vale.

Hi, my name's Milly! I was born in care! I'm looking for my purrever home now, could that be with you?
I'm a social girl who loves following you around for attention. When I'm not doing that, I'm finding new places to hide to have a nap. Just when you think I've escaped out a window...you'll find me snuggled up inside your sofa bed If I'm not hiding in some obscure corner sleeping, you'll find me playing with my siblings and other foster kittens or running up to greet my foster carer when she gets home!
My purrfect home would be one with tons of toys, places to hide for naps and I would mind a furry friend too!
Milly has been:
- Tried with cats and loves them
- Tried with toddlers and teenagers and is fine with them
- Tried with a cat-friendly large-breed dog and is fine with him
***To be kept strictly indoors or with access to a secure netted enclosure only***
Milly is 4 months old (DOB: 1/10/22) and her adoption fee of $200 includes:
- Desexing
- 1st vaccination
- Microchipping
- Parasite treatment up to date of adoption
